Conversion of the arcade corker with Sega squeezing performance grade results from the PS2's architecture putting the breaks on the head on rush into the next generation. The fine fettle of the free flowing highway racer remains intact with wide freeways, golden sunshine and hair flowing free. Indeed the all American feel of the original has been the crux of this update. Other additions include being able to slipstream on other cars to gain valuable seconds in the pursuit of the goal. And it wouldn't be a Sega release without a few extras such as the seagulls and other more unusual winged beasts that fly through the sky at junctions reminiscent of Daytona's fruit machine. But its the heart attack mode that makes it: players try and impress their girlfriend by performing the required overtaking manoeuvres and power slides to gain the required number of hearts to win the good lady over.
